This letter from the Hood River City archives gives some insight into traffic law enforcement in the 1920s. It seems Dr. Abraham has been cited for driving 28 in a 20 mph zone at the corner of 9th and State. He’s claimed there was an emergency, but the city recorder wasn’t buying it. Apparently this wasn’t the first time the traffic officer had seen Dr. Abraham pushing the speed limit.
I wonder if Dr. Abraham’s lead foot is the reason we have a four-way stop at that intersection today?

The Abrahams lost their twelve year old son Glen on January 13, 1924. He drowned while skating on thin ice.
