This historic photo dates back to last week, courtesy of the city planning director. The aged elevator (last inspection date was in 1970) was removed from the Hotel Oregon/ Hotel Waucoma building to make room for a new one. We understand the developers plan to salvage parts from this elevator for use in its replacement.
A few weeks ago the building hosted a well-attended “farewell” to the long-time tenant, the River City Saloon. The new owners then kicked the remodel into high gear.
Plans for the new hotel include a recreation of the roof garden which graced the hotel in its early years. The architect and historian carefully studied many images of the historic hotel preserved at the History Museum to inform their design. It will be fascinating to see this long-gone feature come back to life as the entire building starts a new chapter.

Any information on who is revamping the building and what their plans are? Good to hear somebody with deep pockets believes in HR to the point of investing large amounts of money. Same with the former bank building turned art sales and events.
